How to Keep Spiders and Bugs Away

1
    • 1). Seal all doors and windows tightly to eliminate gaps. A spider or insect can fit into spaces smaller than 1/16 inches. Use calk to seal any open spaces and around pavement or vents. Closely check screens for holes. Any place that leads to the outside of your home should be monitored.

    • 2). Keep all food and beverages off the counter tops and floors. Vacuum the floors regularly to pick up crumbs and wash your counter tops regularly. Discourage family members from eating outside of the kitchen where messes are more difficult to clean. Throw everything away properly in the garbage. Dispose of the garage bags in a tightly sealed container. Place small ant or bug traps by garbage cans.

    • 3). Avoid having stagnate or sitting water in or around your home. Many insects can reproduce in just a 1/4 inch of water. Also keep all plants, trees and wood away from the side of your home. This includes mulch. Don't leave anything stacked up against the side of your home. Pull items out away from the walls inside of basements, garages and attics where moisture can develop.

    • 4). Use insect traps and bug bombs. Insect traps can be placed in many places and are easy to use. Bug bombs can be used every few months and are affective. Keep both of these away from children or pets and follow the directions exactly.

    • 5). Spray chemical repellant in areas where you believe there are spiders and insects. This can be done everyday until the problem is gone or multiple times a day. Clean the area after spraying to collect dead insects, spiders, larva or eggs.
