How to SSH Your iPhone 3GS
- 1). Tap the Cydia store icon on your jailbroken iPhone 3GS to open the application.
- 2). Tap the "Sections" tab in the main screen. Tap the "Networking" option.
- 3). Select "OpenSSH" in the listing of available networking applications. Tap the "Install" button and tap "Confirm." OpenSSH will automatically install onto your iPhone 3GS.
- 4). Tap the "settings" icon on your iPhone's main screen. Tap the "Wi-Fi Networks" option. Tap the arrow next to the network your iPhone is actively using. Take note of the IP Address on this screen as you will need to have it handy for use in setting up the secured connection.
- 5). Download and install the WinSCP application onto your computer (See Resources).
- 6). Double-click the WinSCP icon on your computer to launch the application. Enter the IP Address from your iPhone into the "Host Name" entry box. Enter "root" as the username and "alpine" as the password. Click the "Login" button. Click "Yes" in the pop-up window. The application will wirelessly connect to your iPhone 3GS via the IP Address connection and create the SSH on the phone.
