The Specs of the 2000 Honda CRV
- The 2000 Honda CR-V became the penultimate model year of the first generation of the compact crossover sport utility vehicle the Japanese automaker introduced in 1997. The 2000 CR-V came in three trims called the LX (available in front-wheel and four-wheel drive), the EX and the Special Edition (available only in four-wheel drive). The vehicle's manufacturer's suggested retail price ranged from $18,650 to $22,600.
- The 2000 Honda CR-V's 2.0-liter, 16-valve inline four-cylinder engine uses a double overhead camshaft configuration and a multi-point fuel injection system. With a bore and stroke of 3.31 inches by 3.5 inches and a 9.6-to-1 compression ratio, the engine produced 146 horsepower at 6,200 rpm and 133 pound-feet of torque at 4,500 rpm.
The Special Edition trim and the LX front-wheel drive were built with a four-speed automatic as their standard transmission, while the LX four-wheel drive and EX received the five-speed manual instead. The latter two trims got the four-speed automatic as an option, while the former group is stuck with just one transmission choice. - The 2000 Honda CR-V LX front-wheel drive achieved fuel economy ratings of 23 miles per gallon in the city and 25 mpg on the highway. With the other trims, as well as the four-wheel drive version of the LX, the city fuel economy drops from 23 to 22 mpg. Additionally, the 2000 CR-V rated a 0-to-60 mph time of 9.9 seconds, a 60-to-0 mph braking distance of 141 feet, a maximum towing capacity of 1,000 lbs. and a turning diameter of 34.8 feet.
- Honda designed the 2000 CR-V as a five-passenger vehicle. The SUV's front seats provide 40.5 inches of head room, 41.5 inches of legroom, 53.3 inches of shoulder room and 53.4 inches of hip room. The rear seats offer 39.2 inches of head room, 36.7 inches of legroom, 55.5 inches of shoulder room and 50.7 inches of hip room.
- A four-door SUV that rides on 15-inch wheels -- those of the EX and Special Edition are made of aluminum, while the LX's are made of steel -- the 2000 Honda CR-V measures 177.6 inches long, 68.9 inches wide and 65.9 inches high, with a 103.2-inch wheelbase and a 8.1-inch ground clearance. The curb weight of the 2000 CR-V ranges from 3,126 lbs. for the LX front-wheel drive to 3,254 lbs. for the Special Edition.
