How to Check Honda Transmission Fluid
- 1). Park the Honda on level ground. Shut off the engine and allow it to cool down. Find the transmission dip stick located near the top of the engine. If needed, consult the diagram to see where it's located (see References).
- 2). Pull the dipstick from the transmission. Wipe the excess fluid from the stick with a rag or towel.
- 3). Reinsert the dipstick into the transmission, making sure it's snug.
- 4). Pull the dipstick out again. This time, check the level of the fluid on the stick. There are two lines, one on top and one on bottom, with a space between them. If the transmission fluid falls below the bottom line, add more transmission fluid to the same hole in which the dipstick sits. A funnel will make this easier.
- 5). Reinsert the dipstick once your transmission fluid levels are adequate.
