If you are looking for a serious upper body power workout then you have got to work on the development of your core strength.
One way to do this is by engaging in big multi-joint exercises which promote the stability and function of your core midsection.
A great upper body strength exercise for doing this involves the kettlebell renegade rows.
This is a true power exercise for your upper body.
Kettlebell Renegade Rows: Serious Strength And Power For Your Upper Body! In order to execute this very dynamic exercise you will need the availability of a pair of kettlebells of light to moderate resistance depending on your personal level of strength and body control.
For this drill you will want to place the bells on the floor with a distance between them of about shoulder width apart in length.
You will also want your feet to be the same distance apart.
From here simply position yourself up on the bells by gripping them with your hands and extending your body into an upright push up position.
From this upright push up position you are going to execute a push up.
As you extend at the top of the push up you are then going to row a kettlebell to your ribcage and return it to the floor.
From here execute another push up and row the opposite bell in the same fashion.
You will find that this drill requires you to totally stabilize your body and also force you to maintain a solid level of control and balance throughout the lift.
This is where the core strength and power of your midsection comes into play.
After executing only about 5 to 10 of these on each arm you will quickly see why this drill will warrant a significant body power increase!
