Your Pool Has Rusty Brownish Water, What Should You Do?
- 1). Test your pool water with the pH kit to see if the water requires adjustment.
- 2). Brush stains where iron has settled on the sides of the pool
- 3). Add a sequestering agent to the water according to package directions. The sequestering agent keeps the iron in solution in the water so that the filtering can remove the iron particles.
- 4). Adjust the pH of the water. To raise the number, which makes the water more alkaline, add sodium carbonate. To lower the pH number, which makes the water more acidic, add muriatic acid. Follow the directions on the container for how much to add to correct the pH value.
- 5). Run the pool filter for at least 12 hours to remove the iron.
- 6). Remove the filter cartridge and rinse with water. Replace the filter.
- 7). Continue running the filter until there are no more iron particles.
