Construction

• Tent campers designed for use with a motorcycle feature lightweight frames constructed from a combination of aluminum, fiberglass and steel. The base of the chassis has an aluminum frame bolted to a standard steel axle. This aluminum frame supports the fiberglass base and utilizes a standard hitch to connect to the motorcycle. The fiberglass body opens up to create the bed surface, which is covered by the tent material held up by vertical supports.
  
  

Options

• Motorcycle tent campers are available with a variety of options depending on the model and brand you choose. You can add storage compartments to the trailer frame to haul your clothing and camping gear safely. Screen rooms can be attached to the tent assembly to create a bug-free living area with optional rain fly. Other options include an adjustable cooler rack on the trailer frame, cargo rack on top of the fiberglass top and air conditioner mounting brackets for hot climates.
  
  

Pulling

• When pulling a tent camper with a motorcycle, you must take extra caution, because it changes the way your bike handles. The motorcycle requires more distance and time to stop due to the extra weight pushing the motorcycle. Take corners slowly and lean into the corner to prevent the trailer and bike from tipping. Be careful not to run over large pot holes or bumps in the road at high speed, as the trailer could hop off the ground, causing you to wreck. Inspect the hitch every time you stop to ensure it is in the locked position and that the safety chains are in place.
  
  

Maintenance

• Maintaining your motorcycle tent camper will keep it in optimum working condition and extend its life. Check the wheel bearings routinely and grease or replace them as needed. The tent fabric needs to be completely dry before you fold the camper up for storage, or mold can grow. Thoroughly clean the inside before long-term storage to prevent animals from damaging the interior looking for food. Applying wax to the fiberglass shell a few times a year will protect it from the damaging effects of the sun.
