Food which is hygienic with just enough quantity, quality and variety of nutrients needed for a person is said to be a balanced diet.
The essential nutrients are carbohydrates, protein, vitamin, minerals, fat and water.
Carbohydrates provide us energy to mental and physical work.
Likewise, protein forms muscle and muscular organs.
Similarly, vitamin helps to conduct organs.
Fat provides us warmth and calories when there is lack of carbohydrates.
Minerals assist to form strong bones and water is much more essential because our body contains nearly seventy percent water.
The food we eat must be right.
The proper amount of food with proper calories and other nutrients should be in our food.
How much we should eat depends on the age, sex and our physical and mental labor.
Eating too much cause over malnutrition and eating less cause under malnutrition.
To obtain carbohydrates, we should eat rice, maize, wheat and sweet food.
For fat, ghee, butter or oil is used.
