Setting Up Equalizers on a Stereo
- 1). Increase the treble band of your equalizer to enhance the high frequencies of the music you are listening to. This will make the music sound brighter, especially enhancing the way vocals, cymbals and acoustic guitar sound.
- 2). Decrease the treble band of your equalizer to de-emphasize the high frequencies of the music. This is helpful when a piece of music is overly bright sounding. Turning this band down will dull the high frequencies, making the music sound darker.
- 3). Increase the mid-range band of your equalizer to emphasize the mid-range frequencies of the music you are listening to. This can add definition to a mix that sounds muddy.
- 4). Decrease the mid-range band of your equalizer if the music is too harsh or aggressive sounding. This will smooth out the mid-range frequencies, making the music more pleasant to listen to.
- 5). Increase the low band of your equalizer to emphasize the bass frequencies of the music you are listening to. This is especially helpful if the music is thin and weak sounding. Increasing this band will especially enhance the bass created by the kick drum and bass guitar.
- 6). Decrease the low band of the equalizer to de-emphasize the bass frequencies of the music. This is useful if the music is too heavy sounding or if the bass is too powerful for your stereo. Turning this band down will thin out the music, keeping the bass from overwhelming the rest of the music.
