Most of us have been in this position. A petty verbal quarrel over nothing suddenly mushroomed into atomic blows. The last time it happened you were distraught, hating him for hurting you. He rang the next morning, full of remorse and apologies. You were only too happy to forgive and forget.

But now it has happened again and you are sure your ex will never come back to you. You are lonely, waiting for the phone to ring, wanting the phone to ring, to make a call to him or send a text message, but frightened of hearing that he doesn't want to see you again.

If only you had kept your cool, you could feel justified in ringing him up and apologising. You wish with all your heart that there were magic words you could use to get your ex to return your call.

You sit there trying to work up the courage to call your ex, thinking that maybe you should have done it on the night of the fight. But the thought of wanting your ex back then had seemed ridiculous. Now you have cooled down and you start looking for excuses for his behaviour, blaming yourself for putting an end to the only romance you had that stood any chance of becoming permanent. You want to tell him how lost and lonely you are without him but are afraid that he will not even answer the phone or reply to your text message.

Do you know, it is never too late to call your ex or have him return your call if you have a strategy with magic words.

Be warned, these are not magic words!

There are "wrong" words that will put your ex off instantly and he will not respond to your calls!

You should never plead:- "Please, please call me. I have already left 5 messages, I HAVE to talk to you, please?"

You should also not use the emergency tactic: "This is an emergency. Please call me as soon as you get this."

This, however, can be magic words!

Since the creation of mankind, curiosity and self-interest have been two of the biggest forces in the human mind.

Combine these traits and you have magic words. "I appreciate what you did for me, call me because I want to thank you in person." or "I am so glad that I could learn so much from you, call me because I want to thank you in person."

Would your ex be able to resist this message? No! He will be curious to know what he did that you appreciate so much or what it is that you have learned from him.

Furthermore, he will feel good about himself if he thinks that he actually taught you some things although he does not really know what it was. A positive message contains magic words that can work nearly every time!

Why are you appreciative?

Your ex will not appreciate it if he returns your call and you do not really have any idea of what you have learned from him or what he has done that you appreciate so much.

Before you call or send this kind of message, you should really know what it is that your ex did that you appreciate so much. It can be a small thing; maybe he always helped in the kitchen or took the dog for a walk when you did not have the time... think back to your relationship and you will really find something that your ex has done to appreciate.

This is important!

Words are powerful tools! Be careful in what you say (and do) before, during and after you get your ex to return your call. This can be even more important than getting your ex to return your call.
