How to Use White Distilled Vinegar to Disinfect If You're Sick
- 1). Soak a soft cloth in white distilled vinegar and rub it over kitchen counters and wooden cutting boards to disinfect the surface. Or, put the vinegar in a spray bottle, spray the surface and wipe clean. Although vinegar has an odor when it is applied, the smell will be gone when it has dried.
- 2). Add 2 cups of white distilled vinegar into the bottom of the dishwasher along with a phosphate-free dishwasher detergent. This will clean dishes better, according to the Vinegar Institute.
- 3). Pour 4 tbsp. of vinegar, 2 tsp. of borax and 4 cups of hot water into a spray bottle and mix thoroughly. Spray over furniture and objects that need to be sanitized and wipe clean. For example, spray on door handles, remote controls and bathroom countertops you have touched to keep from spreading germs. Always test the sanitizer in an inconspicuous area first.
- 4). Mix 1 tsp. of baking soda, 1 tsp. of vinegar and 2 cups of hot water into a spray bottle. Spray the mixture in bathrooms to sanitize the air and remove odors after use.
- 5). Soak a soft cloth in white distilled vinegar and rub down children's hard toys to kill germs. Let the vinegar dry before using the toy.
