If you're concerned about the possibility of AT&T acquiring T-Mobile, as I am, its important to know that you finally get a chance to voice your opinion. The Federal Communications Commission is accepting concerns, comments, and basically anything you can throw at them, through the FCC website. Whether or not your voice will be heard, its hard to say, but its important that we all speak out.
AT&T is promising an improved 4G network, through the acquisition of T-Mobile, and better overall service in the United States. While this may be an undeniably true outcome, its important that we question what kind of effect this type of deal would have on mobile competition.
No one knows where cellular pricing will be in a year from now, but if this deal goes through, every customer in the United States will be affected. Regardless of whether your cellular service comes from the largest or the smallest provider in the country, knocking out one of the big four will definitely affect your monthly bill.
If I were Sprint or Verizon, I would be shaking in my cellular boots. I would also be calling late night meetings, brainstorming anything and everything that could protect my pocket book. And as for all of us, the consumers, we too should be shaking in our cellular boots. The joining of these two companies will surely affect our financial statements, in one way or another.
