Do you love bacon as part of your breakfast? Ever wondered how it got in that shape and the process that it goes through? Well, I'm about to tell you the process that it goes through to be in the shape and size that you get it in.
They toss a lot of pig bellies into a tumbler to soften them up and to make it easier to remove the skin.
After this is done they put the pork on a conveyor belt that runs through a machine that removes the skin from the meat.
The pork bellies are then injected with a curing solution through needles.
This solution contains salt, water, liquid smoke and other flavorings.
They are then hanged on hooks and go into a shower that bombards the meat to give if colour and flavor to the surface.
They are then transferred to a big oven to be cooked in a low temperature for about 5 hours.
It then goes into a freezer for a quick cool down and then into a fridge.
They are then sliced in machines to bacon sized peaces and fall onto a conveyor belt to go through a very long microwave.
The cooked bacon are then filtered by humans that separate the broken pieces so that only the correct bacon pieces proceed.
They then go through tiny electronic eyes that count them and then stack them together for packaging.
Each package contains the same amount of bacon.
And that's the process that it goes through.
