Jets

• To clean the jets, draw a hot water bath in the tub until the water level is above all of the jets. Then, drop in two or three dishwasher cleaning tablets, depending on the size of the tub. Never use the antibacterial variety, as they cause odor for days afterward, cause damage to the pump and are not any more effective at reducing bacteria than the regular variety.
  
  Turn the jets on and let them run for 20 minutes. This will ensure that the cleaner gets into and around the jets, and into the pump. After 20 minutes, drain the bath and use a cloth to wipe away loosened dirt. Then, draw another hot water bath, making sure the water level is above all the jets. Without adding soap, turn on the jets and run for 10 minutes to ensure that all the soap residue gets rinsed away. Drain the tub as normal.
  
  Cleaning the jets this way helps prevent bacteria growth inside the jets, where it is impossible to clean with a cloth or a sponge. Clean the jets at least once a month, more frequently if you use your whirlpool tub every day.
  
  

Tub

• If, after you've cleaned the jets, there are still stains or a ring around the tub, you'll want to scrub with a nonabrasive cleaner. Apply a gentle all-purpose bathroom cleaner to a soft sponge or towel and wipe the stains until they are gone, and rise thoroughly with water. You may need to repeat this procedure two or three times for set-in stains.
  
  

Fixtures

• Most whirlpool tub fixtures can be cleaned with the same gentle bathroom cleaner you used on the tub. However, an all-purpose cleaner may not work for water spots on brass or silver plated fixtures. For these fixtures, apply baking soda to a damp cloth and gently wipe the fixtures. Then, wipe with a clean damp cloth.
