How to Copy a PVR SAT to a Computer

1

Send Audio and Video from the PVR to the Computer

    • 1). Open the computer's CD drive and insert the video capture card's installation CD. An installation wizard will load automatically. Read and follow the wizard's prompts to install the video capture card's software drivers onto the computer. The drivers are needed to tell the computer how to communicate with the video capture card hardware.

    • 2). Connect one end of a USB cable into the video capture card's USB port -- skip this if you are using the type of video capture card that comes with the USB cable already attached to the device. Plug the video capture card's USB cable into an available USB port on the computer.

    • 3). Insert one end of the audio cable with the red plugs into the PVR's red "Audio R" output jack. Connect the other end of this cable to the video capture card's red audio input jack.

    • 4). Plug one end of the audio cable with the white plugs into the PVR's white "Audio L" output jack. Connect the other end of this cable to the video capture card's white audio input jack.

    • 5). Use the composite video cable, the cable with the yellow plugs, to connect the PVR's yellow "Video" output jack to the video capture card's yellow video input jack.

    • 6). Turn on the PVR and TV set.

Dub Video from the PVR into the Computer

    • 1). Open the Start menu. Click "All Programs." Click "Windows Live Movie Maker" to launch the Windows Live Movie Maker program. This application comes preinstalled with the Windows 7 operating system.

    • 2). Click the arrow located to the left of the "Home" tab to open the Movie Maker menu. Select "Import from device" to open the Import wizard. If a pop-up appears with the message "Photos and videos will be imported into Windows Live Photo Gallery," click "OK."

    • 3). Click on the listing of the video capture card in the wizard's device list. If the video capture card is not yet listed, click "Refresh." Click "Import." Follow the on-screen instructions to prepare Windows Live Movie Maker to make a recording. At the last prompt, you will see a preview window that, if everything is set up properly, displays whatever is currently playing on the PVR.

    • 4). Open the PVR's Play List menu. Locate the PVR recording that you want to transfer to the computer. Initiate playback of the program. In Windows Live Movie Maker, click "Import" to start dubbing the program in to the computer.

    • 5). Click "Stop" once the program has finished playing through. Click "Finished."
