How to Turn the Temperature Down on a Hot Water Boiler
- 1). Turn the hot water faucet on in your kitchen sink and run the water until it is at its hottest. Then fill a drinking glass half full with the water and turn the faucet off.
- 2). Place a cooking thermometer in the glass and let it sit for a couple minutes until you can read how hot the water temperature is. Remove the thermometer from the glass and pour the water into the sink.
- 3). Locate the thermostat control for your hot water boiler and observe where the temperature is set. The thermostat will look like a dial on the side of the boiler or on a wall in your home with the temperature in degrees printed on the dial.
- 4). Turn the thermostat down to the desired temperature, remembering not to go below the recommended minimum temperature of 130 degrees F.
- 5). Allow the water temperature to adjust for approximately 30 minutes and retest the temperature by repeating steps 1 and 2 to confirm that you have the desired results.
