How to Lubricate the Door Striker Plate and Tracks in a Chevy Impala
- 1). Open all four doors of your Chevy Impala and locate the door striker plate and tracks on each. The door striker plate and tracks will be found on the inside of the door frames and on the inside of the door which is concealed when it is closed. Think of it as a latch system that is secure when closed.
- 2). Check to make sure there isn't any build-up of debris on the door striker plate and locks. While this isn't a place where a lot of debris has room to build up, it certainly gets a few layers of wax from the car wash. Remove any build-up with a rag.
- 3). Apply Superlube to the door striker plate and tracks of your Chevy Impala. Superlube is the recommended lubricant according to the Chevy Impala owner's manual. It is made by GM and available for purchase at any of their corresponding dealerships. If you don't have Superlube, they suggest a multi-purpose car lubricant.
- 4). Work the lubricant into the door striker plate and tracks of your Chevy Impala by opening and closing the door several times.
- 5). Make sure there isn't any excess build-up of the lubricant you just applied on the door striker plate and tracks. If so, wipe it away with a clean part of the rag.
- 6). Continue to lubricate the rest of the door striker plates and tracks on the other three car doors.
