How to Get More Energy During Stressful Times
- 1). Try aromatherapy. Sniff some lavender essential oil, or sniff a lemon. Both scents will energize you, and the deep breathing will relax you as well. Keep a vial of essential oil with you. Buy a lemon at the corner produce market, or keep a few in the refrigerator. Try spiking your water with a few lemon slices as well.
- 2). Moderate your caffeine intake. A cup of coffee or two in the morning is okay. But drinking coffee throughout the day will make you feel jumpy and nervous, not energized. Substitute water for coffee later in the day to stay hydrated. Drinking water will help keep afternoon sleepiness away.
- 3). Eat smaller, more frequent meals. Include complex carbohydrates, like whole wheat bread. Put dark, leafy greens on your sandwiches. Avoid the simple sugars found in candy bars, hard candy or white bread. Eating more frequently will sustain your energy throughout the day and help you avoid energy crashes. And you won't have to stress about being hungry.
- 4). Take a walk outside. Fresh air, a change of scenery and some aerobic exercise will boost your energy and help you relax. Try fitting a walk into your lunch hour or into your midday routine.
- 5). Stretch on your toes. Stand up in your office or from your home desk and roll up and down on your toes. You'll get the blood flowing throughout your entire body for more energy, and the little break will help you de-stress.
- 6). Take a one-day vacation. Take a day off and do whatever you want. Go to the beach, stay at home and watch movies, do errands that have been hanging over your head or take a long walk with your dog. You'll be ready to face the next day relaxed and re-energized.
- 7). Have more sex. Get those endorphins flowing. You'll have more energy and feel relaxed at the same time.
