How to Troubleshoot a Liteon LH20A1H
- 1). Check the drive connections. If the drive is not being recognized by your computer, then one of its connections may not be connected properly. Refer to your computer's owner's manual for instructions on how to open your computer case and check the IDE and power cables connected to the LH-20A1H to ensure they are securely connected.
- 2). Check the disc inserted into the disc tray. If it is not securely inserted into the disc tray, it may damage the drive or the disc when it begins to spin. Also check that discs are not severely scratched or otherwise dirty. Damaged or smudged discs may not work properly.
- 3). Insert only compatible discs into the disc drive. The LH-20A1H is compatible with CD-ROM, CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-RAM, DVD-ROM, DVD-R, DVD-R DL, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+R DL, and DVD+RW discs.
- 4). Check your hard drive capacity. Your hard drive must have 1.2 to 2 times the amount of free space as the disc you are attempting to write. This amounts to around 9 GB for a dual layer DVD and 5 GB for a single layer DVD.
- 5). Update device drivers. If the drive is not working properly, the drivers, or internal software, may be out of date. Click the "Start" button and select "Control Panel." Click "System and Maintenance" and select "Device Manager." Locate the Lite-On LH-20A1H and double-click it. Select the "Driver" tab and click "Update Driver." Your computer will locate the most current driver over the Internet and install them if any are found.
