How to Use Contact Adhesive
- 1). Place the aluminum and the plastic laminate with the mounting surfaces pointing up. Clean the mounting surface on the aluminum and the plastic laminate using the MEK and a rag.
- 2). Open up the can of contact adhesive with the paint can opener and stir the adhesive with a wooden stir stick.
- 3). Apply a thin coat of the contact adhesive to the aluminum and the plastic laminate using the paintbrush. Let the contact adhesive dry for about 5 minutes, or until you can touch the surface with your hand and it doesn't feel tacky.
- 4). Lift up the plastic laminate and flip it over so the mounting surface on the laminate is facing the mounting surface on the aluminum. Align the two pieces carefully, then push the plastic laminate onto the aluminum firmly. Roll the back of the plastic laminate using the 3-inch roller to secure the bond.
