How to Take Off a Mustang's Dash
- 1). Lift the hood and prop it open. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
- 2). Remove the screws near the temperature control panel on the dash. Pull out the controls.
- 3). Pull on the ashtray to remove it from the bracket. Set it aside. Remove the screws securing the ashtray brackets. Pull out the brackets from the dash.
- 4). Reach into the ashtray hole and disconnect all cables that hook up to the speedometer and various displays on the panel.
- 5). Remove the dashboard by detaching the screws near the instrument panel. Pull the cluster out.
- 6). Open the glove box. Detach the screws that secure the glove box and pull it out.
- 7). Disconnect all cables that lead to the dash by reaching into the glove box hole and pulling them. Cables might be secured to the right side decorative dash facing, especially on older models.
- 8). Remove the 3/8-inch speed nut from inside the glove box hole. It is connected to a stud near the dash pad's bottom corner. Remove the second stud in the temperature control hole.
- 9). Pull the dash pad to remove it from your Mustang. The dash will pull away once all the retainers have been removed.
