How to Repair a Craftsman Riding Lawnmower That is Not Starting
- 1). Set the blade engage lever to the disengage setting. The engine will not start with an engaged blade.
- 2). Set the parking brake to the engage position.
- 3). Open up the hood of the machine and check the gas tank. Make sure the gas tank is full.
- 4). Inspect the cord leading to the spark plug. Press it down onto the spark plug if it is unhooked.
- 5). Remove the spark plug from the engine using a socket wrench. Inspect the end of the spark plug for signs of corrosion. Replace it if necessary.
- 6). Check the terminals of the battery for signs of corrosion. Pull off the battery cables and clean the terminals according to your owner's manual instructions.
