29
You have heard all the buzz about having a six pack, and we aren't talking about beer.
What exactly does "six pack" or "six pack abs" mean? Basically what it means is that a man or a woman has a lean, flat, muscular stomach.
There seems to be a great myth out there that only men can get that sexy six pack and that you can only get those abs if you are in your twenties.
The fact is that they are simply myths, and they are not true.
While it may be true that it will be easier when you are younger to get the six pack, this is only because most things are easier before we hit 30.
All this means is that you have to want the six pack abs and you have to be willing to work for them.
There isn't a magic pill that is going to define your abs.
You also aren't going to get a washboard stomach sitting on the couch all day.
There are three things that you need to make sure that you are doing to get that six pack you have been dreaming of.
First, understand that so called "target exercises" are not going to get you flat abs.
This is because you have no control over where your body chooses to lose weight from first.
So it is time for you to stop the 300 hundred crunches you have been doing that have gotten you no where.
You need to do regular cardio exercises.
These include running, jumping rope, swimming, walking, and even aerobics.
You want to get the oxygen and blood flowing and pumping through the entire body.
Cardio exercises also tend to work the entire body, this is key.
You also need to do strength training that works the entire body.
You can not be spot specific.
You want to tone and strengthen every muscle in your body.
Strength training means that your muscles are pushing against some sort of resistance.
For many this is lifting weights, this doesn't mean that you have to bulk up though.
You can use exercise bands, your own body weight or light weights to help you get definition in the muscles.
Finally you should try to follow a healthy low calorie diet.
To lose weight you have to burn more calories then what you are consuming.
A diet that is high in fruits and veggies and moderate amounts of lean protein is ideal.
Avoid processed foods whenever possible.
Get rid of everything white, white breads, white sugar, white flour and opt for whole grains instead.
Follow these three guidelines and you will get the six pack you have always wanted.
Ignore all of those sites that tell you the only way you are going to get a flat abdomen is if your genes allow you to.
Take control of your life and take responsibility for it, start your six pack abs quest today.
Make the commitment, start today and be proud of your body in less time then you think.
