How to Recharge Magnets
- 1). Fill the grill with charcoal and light it. Set the grill on some nonflammable surface outdoors, like concrete or dirt. Place the water bucket nearby. In case of accidents it can extinguish fires or cool down hot pieces of metal. Put your safety goggles on.
- 2). Place your demagnetized magnets on the grill with the tongs. Let the grill heat up until the charcoal bed is going as well as it's going to. Light the propane torch and apply the flame directly to the magnet on the grill. Heat it this way for several minutes. Turn off the propane torch when you are finished with it.
- 3). Put on the leather gloves. Pick up the demagnetized magnet with the tongs. Remember, it is very hot. Move it to the rock or concrete working surface, and place it down. Stroke the demagnetized magnet with the neodymium magnet. Stroke always in the same direction. Never move the neodymium backwards and forwards and always use the same side of the neodymium magnet. Once the metal starts to cool, put the demagenetized magnet back on the grill. Repeat the cycle of heating and stroking several times.
- 4). Take the magnet you are working on off the grill with the tongs. Set it down on your concrete or stone working surface and allow it to cool. Once it has cooled to air temperature it will have regained its magnetic properties. If it is too weak then perform the whole process again but repeat the heating/stroking cycle more than you did before.
