Overextended? Learn to Say No!
Busy...
busy...
busy is a way life these days.
Stress is at its max.
Why is life at this pace anyway? Could it be that we are simply overextended? Wow, now that's something to consider.
Who knew! Overload is a main component in not accomplishing things.
Realistically there are only so many hours in a day and we really have to focus on the most significant tasks.
So what if something does not get done? Is it the end of the world? I don't think so.
It simply means that you are either overbooked or are not managing your time as well as you can be.
Most times you will find you are overbooked.
The "list" is one of the most helpful little items to keep us on track.
The phone and computer are some of the greatest interferences of getting things accomplished.
They can suck the hours out of your day like a vacuum! Utilize them to your advantage, not disadvantage! Creating lists and having calendars are great ways to stay on track but in reality the best part of time and goal management is the ability to simply say "NO".
It can be difficult at times but in order for life to flow smoothly we do have to say it sometimes as it is in the interest of ourselves, our businesses and our families..
Take the time during this hectic time of year to decide on what is most important to you.
Stick to that plan.
Have the power to simply say, "I am sorry this is not a good time right now".
People respect honesty and you will alleviate the feeling of pressure to commit to things when you clearly know that you are overextended.
I have been overextended at times inf my life and although all the things that needed to, did get done, it was at a cost.
It took me a long time to learn how to say "no".
Guess what? Nothing happened! There is always someone else that can be asked and are usually happy to do so.
So step aside and let others contribute and when the time is good you will be able to volunteer happily and without stress!
