How to Clean a Glass Chandelier Easily
- 1). Get a sturdy step ladder and set it up next to it so you can comfortably and safely work with the chandelier. Cleaning old vintage glass chandeliers can be difficult and destructive if you handle them roughly. Just like with any fragile or old item you have, you need to exercise special care. You do not need to take down your chandelier in this guide as doing so could possible damage it.
- 2). First you need to layout some plastic underneath the chandelier. Make sure the power to the chandler is off and any electrical components, wires or light bulbs are covered thoroughly with plastic, use rubber bands to make a water tight seal.
- 3). Make a solution with filtered clean bottled water and rubbing alcohol, about half and half. Spray down the chandelier thoroughly with the solution. If you have stubborn or caked on dirt, use a soft bristled toothbrush to knock the particles loose. Keep spraying the chandelier until the water dripping is noticeable clear. Always when spraying, start from the top and work your way to the bottom as to keep the surfaces you just cleaned from getting dirty again. Allow the chandelier to drip dry. The alcohol in the solution will help dry the glass streak and spot free.
