Quickoffice App Review

Acquired by Google in 2012, Quickoffice has been installed on over 300 million devices in more than 180 countries. Many in the software industry have speculated that Google's intent is to leverage the strengths of Quickoffice to compete even more strongly against Microsoft Office than it has been able to do with just Google Apps.
The best product to compare Quickoffice to isn't a full version office suite like Microsoft Office 2013 or Office 365.
At this point, you should compare it to the functionality of Microsoft's Free Web Apps or, if you do have an Office 365 subscription, the Microsoft Office Mobile App for Android or the Microsoft Office Mobile App for iOS. QuickOffice used to come at a reasonable price (in the $0-20 USD range) but as of September 2013 is free. It can be used both as a web app and a mobile app.
But is it right for you, today? Here's my experience with it to help you answer that question.
Available Programs and Versions
The Quickoffice programs are referred to as Quickword®, Quicksheet®, and Quickpoint®.
As a mobile productivity suite, Quickoffice comes in several versions, which are mostly dependent on your device's operating system. The links here also take you to pages where you can view several screenshots for each version, giving you a good idea of the user experience.
Android - Quickoffice Pro
Android Tablet - Quickoffice Pro HD
iPhone/iPod Touch - Quickoffice Pro
iPad - Quickoffice Pro HD or Quickoffice (integrating with Google Apss for Business)
Quickoffice App Pros
I have only used the Quickoffice Pro version on my iPod Touch, but the experience has been impressive. I use it almost every day.
My favorite aspect of using Quickoffice Pro is navigation. For me it has an intuitive feel, which is a nice break from apps wherein I find myself constantly searching to get used to the layout. Granted, this could be different for each person, but the effective simplicity of Quickoffice makes it easy for me to recommend it to others.
Quickoffice App Cons
The biggest thing to watch for with this app suite is to thoroughly investigate the Detailed Features link you'll find through each of the version links listed above. Please do this before purchasing.
For example, the HD version for iPad has a more complete presentation program, while the Pro version I use on my iPod Touch only has an editor. For me, this is fine because I don't use presentations as much as I do documents and spreadsheets.
I have not had issues with files not opening or the app crashing, but be sure to visit reviews on the online app store of your choice for more detail on what others may be experiencing.
In conclusion, I feel this is one of the strongest productivity solutions out there. I have used this app while traveling and in my day-to-day productivity life, with no hiccups.
