Amitabh Bachchan, the so-called Shahenshah of Bollywood began his journey in the same manner. A small town boy from Allahabad, Amitabh Bachchan left his job as a freight broker in a shipping company to pursue his dreams as an actor. He was rejected for the job of an announcer in All India Radio because his voice was considered too heavy for radio. The actor faced immense criticism for his looks, especially his height, many said, "So tall and thin, and a heavy voice- doesn't really work in Bollywood." But Mr. Bachchan went on to become a legend in Bollywood, showered with titles like shahenshah, Big B and many more. The khiladi of Bollywood, Akshay Kumar's rise to fame and fortune began from Amritsar. Akki has made it big in Bollywood without any Godfather or famous family background. Hailing from a small town in Amritsar, Akki, as everyone knows was a chef in Bangkok where he leant martial arts. After coming to Mumbai, he got a few modelling assignments and then finally bagged his first film in 1991. And since then, there has been no looking back for this hard working actor.
