How to Mix Turmeric and Alcohol
- 1). Stir 1/2 tsp. turmeric powder and 1/2 cup rubbing alcohol together in a bowl.
- 2). Place several cotton swabs into the turmeric/alcohol mixture for three minutes.
- 3). Put the soaked swabs onto a cookie sheet and let them dry. Once they are dry, you have pH indicators for testing liquids for their pH. Keep them in jars.
- 1). Mix 1/2 tsp. turmeric powder and 1/2 cup rubbing alcohol together in a bowl.
- 2). Immerse one to two white coffee filters into the solution for about three minutes.
- 3). Remove the now yellow coffee filters and let them dry out on a cookie sheet overnight. Speed up the drying time by placing the cookie sheet with filters in your oven. Set the temperature at 150 to 200 degrees.
- 4). Cut the dried filters into strips, storing them in jars. You can now use these strips as pH indicators.
- 1). Mix 1/2 tsp. baking soda into the glass of water, dissolving it.
- 2). Dip one of your dried pH swab indicators into the baking soda/water solution. Notice the color. If the color remains yellow, you have an acidic substance. If the color turns red, you have a base or alkaline substance.
- 3). Test other substances such as black coffee, saliva, water, vinegar, tomato juice, lemon juice, soapy water, eggs and your shampoo.
