How to Install 6X9 Speakers for a 2001 Grand Am
- 1). Open the trunk of your Grand Am. Pull on the straps to release the seat back and fold it down.
- 2). Side the edge of a panel tool under the edges of the four round plastic retaining clips on front side of the rear deck panel. Pry the clips out of the panel.
- 3). Pry the edges of the pillar trim on the passenger side of the car up (the area directly in front of the rear deck). Pull the trim off and remove it from the car.
- 4). Pull the deck panel forward, starting at the passenger side, and remove it from the car.
- 5). Push back the plastic clips on the perimeter of the speaker with your fingers. Pull the speaker out of the deck and unplug the connector on the back.
- 6). Plug in the new speaker and place it in the opening. Push the clips onto the speaker to hold it in place. Replace the deck panel and trim by reversing your steps.
