How to Program a Craftsman Remote Door Opener
- 1). Position a ladder under the garage door motor in your garage and climb up until you reach the rear of the motor unit.
- 2). Locate the "smart" or "learn" button on the motor unit. This should be located under the screw terminals for the wires that connect to the unit for the photo cells.
- 3). Push the "smart" or "learn" button on the unit for two to three seconds. This will allow you to program a new remote or transmitter to use with the Craftsman garage door.
- 4). Press the button you want to use to open the garage door on the remote. This will need to be done within 30 seconds before the unit resets. The LED light on the rear of the motor unit will flash once which indicates that the remote has been successfully programmed.
- 5). Repeat step Nos. 3 and 4 to program additional remotes or if you did not properly program the remote before the unit resets. The unit will reset when the LED light on the motor unit goes out.
- 6). Press the button on the remote or transmitter to make sure that it is working properly.
