Thoughts are real energies released by the human brain - energies likened to magnetic and electric impulses.
These energies are broadcast into our mental atmosphere and can be 'picked up' or 'tuned in to' as we do with wireless, although through the medium of our subconscious antennae.
There are good quality thoughts and some terrible ones.
We are not always aware of their entry into our own brain and thinking.

We have little opportunity to discriminate as to the influences that affect and feed our mind and affect our brains.
We must recognize that there are thoughts that vitally nourish our minds and those that are poisonous to our well being and mental fitness.
With disregard or rejection of time honoured values in culture, our mental climate is threatening as these values are replaced by thoughts and attitudes that can not only be damaging.
Their acceptance indicates a collapse of our social values and principles.
It is our positive and noble thoughts and aspiration that uphold modern civilization.
Their denial will certainly deny our further progress as a people.

If thoughts and ideas are food for our minds then our libraries are available to offer an abundant and wonderful range for individual choice of reading matter.
Radio still offers us a listeners' choice in programmes.
The same cannot be said of our daily press and TV.
Here the criteria for news 'content' must be sensational.
Each report is rated according to the extent of violence, lawlessness, aberrations of human behaviour and action from domestic issues to the international front.
The bias towards negative subjects seems additionally polluted by the additional focus upon sex of some kind to appease the current addiction.
We are greeted in early morning radio by negative news that makes us start the day convinced that the world is a pretty dreadful place with its murders, wars, rapes, burglaries, crime, pornography and child abuses.
It is hardly a good start to help the public spirit be a positive one going into a workforce where a positive, healthy mental attitude is required for efficiency.
There is every reason to develop a strong defence against the influence of ideas and thoughts of negative nature all of which spoil our mental health and undermine our personal efforts to develop and maintain a healthy body and brain.
This task is proving difficult in the present mental and physical environment in which our world community exists.
We must however, be as vigilant in our personal and community efforts to eliminate harmful toxic thoughts and ideas as we affect to be concerned with the quality of our physical environment.
