Becoming Your Best Self - Practical Action Steps

1
Looking for some ways to start focusing on becoming your best self.
Here are a few to get you going.
Action Step: Stop choosing right over happy! Have you every bought a new car and from the moment you leave the dealership you notice that every other car is the same as the one you are driving? Well, there are two reasons for this ability to pinpoint certain brands and models.
The first is focus (you've been focusing on buying a new car, remember) and the second is that you are looking for confirmation that you made the right choice.
We all have a tendency to want to be right.
In fact, some of our deepest prejudices come from a fear that we have made a 'wrong' choice about our life.
So many people see all of life's choices as having two possible outcomes: the right choice or the wrong choice.
Most of us don't want to appear 'different' from the mainstream.
We do not want to be singled out and have people stare at us, or worse, laugh.
The truth is no choice is right or wrong; it is only your choice, and it's right for you! So, start paying attention to every choice you make throughout the day and week.
Did that particular decision make you feel happy and in alignment? Or did it make you feel justified and defensive.
Questions to Ask Yourself 1.
Which sensation do you 'really' prefer? 2.
Take time to figure out how each possible choice will make you feel BEFORE you make a decision.
Start paying attention to what types of choices keep you in harmony with yourself and make more of those choices.
Begin experiencing the joy of choosing happy over right! Action Step: Be 100% present in all you do.
One of the greatest gifts you can give yourself and others is to be 100% present in every situation you find yourself in.
There is a richness to life when we are present in the moment that can not be felt when our thoughts are elsewhere.
Start paying attention to how present you are in any situation.
If you are not in the moment 100%, then gently bring yourself back to it.
Much as we self-correct while driving and we go too far into the shoulder, bringing ourselves back into the present can be that simple and that automatic.
Questions to Ask Yourself 1.
How does being 100% present feel different than being present less than 100%? 2.
Pay attention to what has your attention when it's not in the here and now.
3.
Pay attention to how people respond to you in each situation.
Which do you prefer?
