Microphone Input Issues With HP Laptops
- Go to the "Hardware and Sound" section of the "Control Panel" menu from the "Start" button. Select your sound card from the menu and click the "Recording" tab. Make sure that the integrated microphone is set as the default recording device and that the volume bar next to the microphone option is set to high.
- If you're using an application that employs your microphone, such as VoIP software, check its audio settings. You can do this in most programs by clicking the "Tools" or "Options" tab in the toolbar and checking the default input device. Some software can override the settings of your sound card.
- Make sure that no external devices are routing the default input away from your integrated microphone. If you have a headset or an external microphone plugged into the machine, it will usually override your computer's mic.
