How to Remove a Briefcase From a New Context Menu
- 1). Click the Start button and type "regedit" in the search box and press the "Enter" key. Go to "Run" and type "regedit" there if you are using Windows XP or an older operating system. A folder icon represents every key and subkey.
- 2). Double-click the "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT" key on the left side panel to see the available subkeys. Double-click on the "Briefcase" subkey underneath the "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT" key that you just expanded to find more subkeys.
- 3). Right-click the "ShellNew" subkey below the "Briefcase" key and click "Delete" to remove the Briefcase from the new context menu. Close the Registry Editor by clicking the "X" button on the upper right of the window.
