Living With Passion and Purpose

14
What If Today Was Your Last Day? Clint and I attended the funeral of a friend of his today that he worked with for about 5 years.
He was 53 years old.
He was a great guy with lots of plans for the future, but God's plan wasn't the same as his, and now he's gone.
As it often happens when I attend a funeral, and I'd bet my last dollar I'm not alone in this, I started thinking about my own life, how I spend my time each day, my accomplishments and what I haven't achieved yet.
And I got a little restless.
So I started asking myself how I'd feel if it was my time to go.
Would I feel like I'd given enough love, time and attention to my family? Would I feel like I'd done everything I possibly could to make sure my family would enjoy an abundant life after I was gone, free from financial bondage and with the time to pursue their passions? Well, I wasn't really liking the answers I was getting to my questions, so I started to dig a little deeper to get down to the nitty gritty of my every day life.
Do I really live every single day like it was the gift from God that it is? Do I live each day as if it might be my last one here on earth, savoring every moment and every person in my life? I had to admit to myself that I wasn't.
And I started to get even more restless.
You see, God has very recently put a call on my life that I have joyfully and excitedly answered yes to.
But where's the fruit? I wake up every day feeling great about what I'm doing with my life, or at least, what I'm supposed to be doing with my life, and excited about who I'm going to share it with each day.
But how many people do I actually share it with each day? Are y'all with me just a little bit? Seriously, just consider your day today.
How much time did you spend on things that REALLY matter, and how much time did you spend on things that let you escape your life...
things like facebook, television, video games, chat rooms, or whatever you do to escape the realities of your life? If you knew you were going to die tomorrow, would you have spent today the same way that you did? Be honest now.
I really don't know many people who could answer yes to that question, but there are those that do live life to the fullest every day.
It's really just a matter of choice.
Talk to a cancer survivor, or someone who's recovered from a horrific traffic accident, or a surviving victim of a violent crime.
They get it.
They know they got a 2nd chance to choose how they live their lives, and most of them, the wise ones, take it.
But you know what? We have a 2nd chance too...
right now...
today.
All you have to do is choose.
Choose to live a life of passion and purpose.
Do what it takes to discover your purpose and then live it out as passionately and joyfully and thankfully as you can.
Jesus says in James 4:14 "Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow.
What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.
" I don't know about you, but when I look back on my life at the end, I want to be at peace about the way I used the wonderful gift I was given.
And when I stand before the throne of God, I plan on hearing "Well done, my good and faithful servant.
" (Matt.
25:21) So are you living a life of passion, purpose and abundance, or are you piddling away the precious gift that you've been given? Hey, this could be one of those defining moments in your life, so don't go shrugging it off and ignoring what you know you've been thinking while you've been reading this post.
Do something about it.
Make a choice to REALLY live your life to the fullest.
I guarantee you that if you do, and you make that choice every day, you will not recognize you or your life in just one year's time.
Make your life the one you've always dreamed of living.
I don't care if you're 20 or 70...
there's still time to live the amazing and abundant life you were created to live, so go live it!
