Are you looking to improve bench press weights you are currently lifting? Did you know? There are simple techniques you could be using to improve the amount your lifting dramatically in just a matter of weeks.
Here are 3 good examples that you can start using straight away: My first tip is to grip the bar harder, now this may not sound like it will make much of a difference, but believe me, this is one of the most underestimated techniques to improve your bench press.
Increasing your grip, will recruit more muscles and increase your pressing strength.
Below are a couple of examples of exercises that can improve your grip: oHeavy farmers walk, using kettle bells or heavy dumbbells.
oWrist curls will strengthen your forearms this will improve your grip.
My second tip is to increase your tricep strength; this is due to your triceps being your main secondary muscle used while bench pressing, so to improve bench press, strong tricep can make quite a difference.
My 2 best exercises for increasing tricep strength are listed below: oTricep dips moving up to weighted tricep dips.
oClose grip bench press.
Finally, my last tip is to slowly increase your weights over time, always have someone to spot you whilst pressing really heavy weights, this way you can lift heavier and always finish your reps, even if you need assisting.
When trying to gain strength on my own bench press, I generally perform 3 to 4 sets of only 3 to 5 reps, one word of warning, just remember to be safe and don't lift too heavy when training alone.
