Removing Super Glue From a Wood Table
- 1). Stick a cotton swab into acetone-based nail polish remover. Remove the swab, tapping it against the inside edge of the mouth of the bottle to get rid of excess liquid. Press the swab to one part of the outer edge of the Super Glue stain and hold it in place for 10 seconds.
- 2). Repeat Step 1 to apply remover to another part of the outer edge. Continue this process working from the outer edge of the glue toward the center until you’ve coated all of the glue with remover. When you’re finished, discard the swab.
- 3). Push the edge of your plastic scraper gently into the glue stain from the outside edge of the stain in toward the middle. As you scrape, lift the scraper up to pull the glue from the surface.
- 4). Wipe the glue from your scraper with a damp cloth and continue to scrape until you’ve removed the bulk of the glue. If necessary, repeat Step 1 and then scrape again. After the glue is gone, wipe the spot with a clean, damp, lint-free microfiber cloth, wipe away excess water and wait for the surface to dry.
- 5). Apply wood oil or polish to the spot to restore the finish. If you see a light glue residue or film after you clean the area, or you’ve damaged the finish, sand the area lightly in the direction of the wood grain with fine-grade sand paper. Wipe the surface again with a damp cloth, wait for it to dry and brush or wipe a coat of one-step stain-and-finish product on the surface.
