Photo Modes

• The basic photo modes included with the Olympus Evolt E-500 are auto, landscape, portrait, night-scene portrait, macro and sports. You can also choose settings for specific scenes, such as beach and snow. Program, aperture-priority, shutter-priority and manual modes give you the most control over the camera.
  
  

Images and Options

• The camera records photos in JPEG, TIFF and RAW file formats with a 4:3 aspect ratio. A 2.5-inch monitor allows you to review photos and adjust camera settings. Available color parameters include vivid, natural and muted. The Evolt E-500 offers single auto-focus, continuous auto-focus and manual focus modes. The Evolt's self-timer options include 12-second and two-second settings.
  
  

Lighting

• The camera's flash can pop up automatically when lighting is low, and photographers can select from seven flash modes. Metering modes include center-weighted average metering, spot metering, highlight spot metering and shadow spot metering. In automatic mode, the camera's exposure sensitivity ranges from an ISO 100 to 400. In manual mode, it can reach an ISO of up to 1,600. Auto, preset and custom white balance options are available.
  
  

Megapixels and Other Specs

• The Olympus Evolt E-500 delivers 8-megapixel images. It can record photos on a compact flash card, xD picture card or microdrive and has dual media slots. This camera weighs 15.34 oz. and measures 5 inches wide, 3.7 inches high and 2.6 inches deep. It uses a rechargeable lithium-ion battery and can connect to your computer with a MiniB USB cable.
