How do I Install Windows XP on a Toshiba A205 SATA?
- 1). Insert the Windows installation disc in to your disc drive and restart the computer. Press the space bar once the "Press Any Key To Boot From CD" message appears during your computer's startup process. The Windows Setup screen will launch.
- 2). Press "Enter" when you see the welcome screen and press "F8" to agree to the licensing terms. Select the hard drive partition on which to install the operating system. Press "Enter" to select the recommended partition and press "Enter" to select the recommended format for the partition. Windows will erase your hard disk, removing the old operating system, and then copy the necessary setup folders to your computer.
- 3). Click "Next" in the Windows Setup Wizard that appears once your computer finishes the install. Type your personal information for the computer and click "Next." Type in the product key into the text boxes and click "Next."
- 4). Specify a user name and password for the administrator account and click "Next." Adjust the Time and Date settings for your region and select the "Typical Settings" option in the "Network Settings" page. Click "Next" and enter in the workgroup information for the computer if there is any. Click "Next" and the computer will install the remaining components of the operating system.
- 5). Follow the on-screen instructions in the setup window to personalize the operating system for your needs. Select the Internet connection, enter in the registration information and setup any additional user accounts. Click "Finish" on the Thank You page to launch Windows XP.
