How to Make Stained Glass Leaves

3
    • 1). Go into your yard and find a leaf. Choose one that has straight edges and sharp points. Don't select a leaf that is ripped or torn, and avoid any leaves that look like they've been chewed by insects.

    • 2). Cut out two squares from your black construction paper. Make sure they are at least as large as the leaf. When you have finished cutting both squares, place one directly on top of the other. Make sure all of your edges are perfectly lined up.

    • 3). Place your leaf on top of your paper squares. Use your pencil and trace an outline of your leaf. Once you have completed this task, you can throw your leaf away.

    • 4). Use a cheese grater and shave some curls from your crayon. If you have a crayon sharpener, you may be able to sharpen your crayon and gather the shavings you need this way.

    • 5). Plug in your iron and start warming it.

    • 6). While your iron is warming, pick up your two paper squares. Make sure that the edges of both squares are perfectly lined up, and start to carefully cut out the shape of your leaf. The leaf shape should come from the middle of the paper.

    • 7). Place your bits of crayon shavings between the two pieces of wax paper. Set your warm iron on top of the squares. This will melt the wax.

    • 8). Once the wax is melted, tuck the wax paper and the melted wax between the two construction paper leaves. Trim the edges of the wax paper to match the construction paper.

    • 9). Attach a suction cup to the top of the homemade sun catcher and hang it from your window.
