How to Thread a Simplicity Serger

14
    • 1). Raise the mast of your serger and open the front panel.

    • 2). Place the spools of serger thread on the spool rods at the back of the serger. Unroll a few inches of thread from each spool and lay it over the top of the serger.

    • 3). Bring each thread up to the mast and thread it through the loop directly above the spool. Thread from the back to the front. Leave the thread hanging off of the loop.

    • 4). Bring each thread down through the guide in front of it. Thread it down the tension slot in front of the guide. Pay attention to the color of each slot.

    • 5). Begin with the third thread from the left. Bring the thread down to the front panel and thread it through each guide that is marked with a dot that is the same color as the slot it came from.

    • 6). Thread the eye of the upper looper, pull the thread through toward the back of the serger.

    • 7). Bring the fourth thread from the left down to the front panel and thread it through each guide that is marked with a dot that is the same color as the slot it came from. Before you thread it through the lower looper, use the tweezers to slip it through the notch on the left. Thread the looper, put the thread on top of the upper looper thread and leave it at the back of the serger.

    • 8). Bring the second thread from the left down to the front panel and thread it through each guide that is marked with a dot that is the same color as the slot it came from. Instead of threading it through a looper, thread it through the guide above the right needle and then into the eye of the needle. Bring the thread toward the back of the serger.

    • 9). Bring the leftmost thread down to the front panel and thread it through each guide that is marked with a dot that is the same color as the slot it came from. Thread it through the guide above the left needle and then into the eye of the needle. Bring the thread toward the back of the serger.
