Stress Management - 3 Secrets For Gaining Back Your Time From the Stress of Wasted Time

19
Being in constant worry over the time is extremely stressful.
We are constantly looking at our watches or cell phones for the time.
We usually are on someone else's schedule, possibly our children's, our boss's, or our spouse's.
These people are in control of most of our time, and we are stressed because we know we should be in control.
While we are trying to take care of these schedules the time wasters creep in.
1) Busywork- This is work or tasks that need to get done.
Usually you can delegate some tasks to others.
But there are always those things that you have to do yourself.
Things that make your look and feel very busy, yet are not very productive.
You have got to ask yourself some questions to get a grip in these tasks or projects.
Is the task or project important to you or to someone else? If it is important to you then it is probably not busywork at all.
If it is important to someone else, make doing the task as pleasant as possible, make a game out of it.
Your better attitude will decrease you stress levels.
2) Procrastination- This is tasks and projects that you have put off for lots of reasons.
When those put off tasks become a now priority your stress levels go way up.
Those tasks you considered time wasters in the past are now the fuel for increased stress.
You must put aside the stressed feelings, do the task and forgive yourself and learn from the experience.
3) Moving the piles of dirt- These are the most unpleasant time wasters of all.
When you feel or see yourself moving the piles of dirt, so to speak, from one place to another, these are redundant, not productive tasks that have little or no reason for even doing.
If you can ask someone else to do them, some one that is paid less then you, or a child who just wants to help, it is all right to delegate the task.
Of course the real definition of time wasters is your own perception of the task.
The time it takes for you to get angry or stressed over the finishing of the task is not worth it.
If you must do these unpleasant tasks yourself, plan and prioritize, get the task done as quickly as possible then reward yourself.
My best suggestion for a reward is have some chocolate.
