Did You Ever Break A Leg?

4
Like in the movies -- When Polly Came -- you have to choose between taking and avoiding risk.
In the first scene of this movie, we see how Philip Seymour (I forgot his name in the film -- as all other names of this film...
) nearly breaks his leg.
Did you ever break something? They say that most accidents happen at home, I do not know the statistics, but besides these home accidents there are the accidents because of sport and those because of taking (too) much risk.
But if you have never broken a leg or nose, than you have probably not taken enough risk.
At least you are sure to have been on the save side (or just been lucky).
In the film, the life of "crocodile dundee" is to be insured and the protagonist -- who knows the risk ratio of every incident -- is to analyze his risk behavior.
As the protagonist is a clear case of a risk avoider his calculations tend to become negative.
Jennifer Aniston's character on the other hand is quite the opposite, not so much in the fact that she is willing to take risk, but that her lifestyle is risky.
Chaotic.
In business, risk is also a main topic.
It is if you are entrepreneur more than as a manager, but in both cases, besides taking risk, there is the ingredient of making mistakes.
You could win a game of tennis if you make little mistakes.
Yet if your opponent is of equal strength you will win if he or she takes more risk.
In tennis this often means going to the front (net).
If you do not make mistakes, you do not risk (enough).
If you make mistakes, but you do not learn, you will not win.
The character of Philip Seymour does in fact do just that.
Making the mistake to not to have learned in life.
He does eventually, in which his risk assessment improves.
And he isn't even the main character.
Anyhow, all's well that ends well.
