How to Make Figures Out of Celluclay
- 1). Prepare the Celluclay paste. Pour the contents of a 1-lb. bag of celluclay powder into a plastic bowl. Add 4 cups of warm water and mix thoroughly.
- 2). Knead the material on a wooden board. Spread some celluclay powder on your working table to prevent the material from sticking to the board.
- 3). Sketch the figure you want to create. Break down the shape into basic geometrical forms such as balls, squares or triangles.
- 4). Roll the clay into spheres, cylinders or balls using your fingers. If you need to obtain triangles, prepare a clay slab and cut the shapes out using a cutter or a needle tool. Join the shapes using toothpicks. Alternatively, buy Styrofoam shapes, cover these with Celluclay paste and join the shapes with toothpicks. Create details on the surface of your figurine using a wood modeling tool.
- 5). Allow the figure to dry overnight. If you want to speed up the drying process, use a hair dryer.
- 6). Sand lightly with fine-grit sandpaper.
- 7). Paint and decorate your figure and allow to dry before varnishing.
