Automatic Removal

• 1). Download a free antivirus program. There are dozens of free antivirus programs, including Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool, AVG and Bit Defender (see Resources).
  
  
• 2). Restart your computer in safe mode. To do this, press "F8" continuously as your computer is booting up and then select "Safe Mode" from the list of "Advanced Boot Options."
  
  
• 3). Run a full scan of your computer using the antivirus program. Depending on what antivirus program you use, you will either be asked permission to remove any hidden keylogger programs that the antivirus program finds on your computer or the antivirus program will automatically remove any hidden keylogger programs. You may be asked to restart your computer after this process.
  
  

Manual Removal

• 1). Press "Ctrl + Alt + Delete."
  
  
• 2). Click on the "Task Manager" and then click on "Processes." End all processes associated with the hidden keylogger program by right-clicking on the process and selecting "End Process." For a list of processes associated with the hidden keylogger program, type the name of the specific hidden keylogger program into the 411-Spyware or 2-Spyware search box (see Resources).
  
  
• 3). Click on the "Start" menu and then click on the "Search Programs and Files" box. Search for all files associated with the hidden keylogger program and then delete them by right-clicking on the file and selecting "Delete." For a list of files associated with the hidden keylogger program, type the name of the specific hidden keylogger program into the 411-Spyware or 2-Spyware search box.
  
  
• 4). Click on the "Start" menu and then type "regedit" into the "Search Programs and Files" box and press "Enter." The Registry Editor window opens.
  
  
• 5). Locate all of the registry entries associated with the hidden keylogger program in the left pane of the Registry Editor and then delete them by right-clicking on the entry and selecting "Delete."
