Sprite Advice about Protecting the Environment
The adorable and environmentally conscious Sprites from Disney's hit show for preschoolers, Johnny and the Sprites, want kids to know that everyone can make a difference on Earth Day and every day. Here are some suggestions from Ginger, Lily, Basil and Root to help kids learn how to protect the environment:
- Learn some new words! Find out from a grown up what "recycle" and "environment" really mean.
- Treat animals, plants and trees the way you would treat your friends and parents.
- Take a nature walk outside with mom or dad or another favorite grown up.
- Before you throw anything in the garbage, ask a grown up if it can be recycled.
- Never EVER litter - not at the beach, the pare, or anywhere!
- Help mom or dad plant trees and seeds outside.
- Start your own garden inside the house with seeds in a jar.
- Don't leave the water running when you are brushing your teeth.
- When you color and paint, do it on both sides of the paper.
- Don't take or use more napkins or paper towels than you need.
- Give up juice boxes and have juice in fun reusable bottles and cups.
- In the wintertime, help mom and dad shovel the snow on your walkway instead of using a machine that can zap energy and pollute the air.
- Pass along your toys to others when you don't want to play with them anymore. Reusing and donating is a great way to make a difference!
