    • The Mazda 626 GT also known as the "Turbo" is a variant of the Mazda 626. The Mazda 626 was introduced in 1979 and was produced until 2002. As for the 626 Turbo, it was produced from 1986 up until 1991. In 1992 the whole 626 model line was moved by Mazda into a different platform and the Turbo was one of the models that was discontinued.

    Development

    • When the 626 GT Turbo was released in 1986, it was available as a five-door hatchback, a sedan and coupe. It was equipped with a turbocharged engine that had an output of 120 horsepower at 5,000 rpm, and a torque of 150 ft-lb at 3,000 rpm. In 1987 the Turbo was offered with a four-speed automatic transmission, which was not available during its debut.

      In 1988 the two-door coupe was dropped from its model line. The most significant change during this year was the optional hydraulically operated four-wheel steering system.

      In 1989 the 626 GT Turbo was also equipped with an optional anti-lock brake system. There were no significant changes on the Turbo until it was discontinued in 1991 to pave the way for the fourth generation of 626 cars.

Its wheelbase is 101 inches and its overall length is 179 inches. Its height is 54 inches; its width is 66 inches. It comes standard with 15-inch tires and its fuel tank has a capacity of 15.9 gallons.
