How to Record With Windows Media Center
- 1). Insert your TV tuner card into a USB slot if your computer is not already equipped with an internal tuner.
- 2). Connect one end of a coaxial cable to the cable outlet in your home and the other end to the cable jack on the TV tuner in your computer.
- 3). Open Windows Media Player by clicking the "Start" button on your desktop, typing "Windows Media Player" into the search bar, and clicking Windows Media Center.
- 4). Scroll to the "Tasks" menu at the bottom of the Windows Media Center screen and click "Settings," then "TV," and then "Set Up a TV Signal."
- 5). Click the "Next" button to begin the set up. Windows Media Center will detect the region of your cable access. Confirm that the region is correct by clicking the "Yes" box. Click the "Next" button. On the following screen, click the box next to "Configure my TV Signal Automatically," and click the "Next" button to finish the set up.
- 6). Click the "Yes" button to download the Program guide. Then, click the "Next" button to install the guide.
- 1). Go to the "TV+Movies" menu on the Windows Media Center home screen. Click on "Guide" to view the electronic program guide.
- 2). Click on a show that is already in progress, wait for the show to begin playing on your computer, move your mouse to the bottom of the screen, and click the record button to begin recording the program.
- 3). Schedule a recording by going to the "Guide" menu, right-clicking a show you wish to record, and clicking "Record" from the menu that appears. The program will be recorded when it airs.
- 4). Record an entire series by going to the "Guide" menu, right-clicking on a program, and clicking "Record Series" from the menu that appears. Every time that series airs the episode will be recorded.
- 5). View your recorded shows by clicking "TV" on the Windows Media Center home screen, clicking "Recorded TV," and then clicking the program you have recorded that you wish to watch.
