2002 Wrangler X Top Removal
- 1). Remove the half doors by opening the doors and pulling up on the half door so it separates. The doors should be stowed in a safe location outside the vehicle so they don't get scratched.
- 2). Pull the drip rail retainer and un-tuck it from the door frame slot. Repeat this on the passenger side as well.
- 3). Unclip the sun visor and move it to the side.
- 4). Release the hatches on the top of the driver side and passenger side, leaving the hooks in the windshield slots.
- 5). Open the tailgate and then unzip a bit of the rear window on both sides, giving you access to the rear window retainers.
- 6). Grasp the retainer bar and pull it straight back out of the clips. Then remove the window completely by unzipping around its perimeter.
- 7). Remove the Sunrider pins at the front of the vehicle to release the top. Now release the hooks on the side latches you left in place earlier on.
- 8). Lower the top slowly, wrapping the side panels so they rest on the vehicle's roof. Keep pulling the top down, and tuck the material in as you go.
- 9). Make sure the drip rail retainers are pointing inward and attach the check straps around the header. This will keep the soft top firmly in place even in windy conditions.
